UOS/DHS organised and delivered training for 12 Somalia Explosive Management Authority (SEMA) Officers

In Mogadishu (Somalia), in the frame of capacity building of the national mine action authority UOS/DHS organized and delivered training for twelve SEMA personnel (two from each of the offices located in Mogadishu, Kismayo, Baidoa, Jowhar, Dhusamareb and Garowe) and UNMAS Operations Associate in Mogadishu from 12 to 17 February 2022.

 During the training the trainees were trained on the following subjects:

– Introduction to Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA)

– EH in Somalia (landmines and ERW)

– Marking

– Basic survey tools (GPS and camera)

– Community liaison 

– Gender and diversity sensitive EORE                                                 

– Survey (NTS, TS)

– Basic demining (MMC, BAC, Spot tasks)

– First aid and Casevac

– Accreditation of organisations

– Monitoring of mine action organisations and quality management

– Task planning

– Reporting

– Data verification

– Tests (Entry and Final).

As well twelve (12) GPS and twelve (12) cameras were handed over to SEMA during the training.

 After the successful completion of the training, all trainees were issued certificates of completion of the course.
